Primary drive to the three-speed gearbox was by helical gear, and the engine was mounted in a duplex cradle frame with leadinglink forks. The Super X had exceptional performance and earned an enviable reputation; it is Excelsior’s most famous model. The design was restyled for 1929, receiving the “Streamline” look. The bike shown dates from 1930, the year before it was dropped.
